Course Syllabus

1. TITLE OF COURSE: - CSE1721 - Dreamweaver II
2. COURSE DESCRIPTION: One Credit Hour – Lecture. This intermediate course will give students the tools needed to continue designing effective Web sites using Dreamweaver 8. Concentration will be on expanding their knowledge of Dreamweaver’s design tools. Students should have a basic understanding of Dreamweaver 8, know the basics of using a computer, be familiar with the Internet and e-mail, and have access to Dreamweaver 8. Prerequisite: CS E1701 Dreamweaver I or permission of instructor. For each unit of credit, a minimum of three hours per week with one of the hours for class and two hours for studying/preparation outside of class is expected.
3. PROGRAM AND/OR DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT: The CIS Program will provide superior learning opportunities in the area of information technology, utilizing state-of-the-art technology, for both CIS majors and non CIS majors to enable all students to achieve their career and/or educational goals.
4. TEXTBOOK AND MATERIALS:
   • Textbook selected when course if offered.
5. SCCC/ATS OUTCOMES: Students who successfully complete this course will demonstrate the ability to do the following SCCC/ATS Outcomes:
   • Outcome #1 – Read with comprehension, be critical of what they read, and apply knowledge gained to real life situations.
   • Outcome # 5 – Demonstrate the ability to think critically by gathering facts, generating insights, analyzing data, and evaluating information.
   • Outcome # 6 - Utilize current technology relevant to their respective disciplines.
   • Outcome #9 – Exhibit workplace skills that include respect for others, teamwork competence, attendance/punctuality, decision making, conflict resolution, truthfulness/honesty, positive attitude, judgment, and responsibility.
6. COURSE OUTCOMES: Upon completion of the Dreamweaver II course with 80% or higher mastery of course competencies, the student should be able to:
   • Identify various applications in web design
   • Identify the various component needed for Web page creation
   • Develop and understanding of the Web page creation process
   • Create Web pages that incorporate good layout and design
7. COURSE OUTLINE:
   • Work with Tables
   • Collect Data with Forms
   • Use Styles with Forms
   • Use Styles and Style Sheets
   • Position Object with Layers
8. INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:
   • Lectures, examples, presentations.
   • Hands-on student exercises and projects covering individual units.
   • Related readings and reports from computer magazines, Internet and other related media.
   • Instructors will enforce the Academic Honor Code & Cheating Policy as set forth in the SCCC College Catalog. Students who fail to adhere to this policy will receive an F for the course final grade unless otherwise stated in the instructor’s course policies.
9. INSTRUCTIONAL AND RESOURCE MATERIALS:

   • Web Design Workshop,
   • Web Pages That Suck
10. METHODS OF ASSESSMENT: SCCC/ATS Outcome #1 will be assessed through students reading various articles from their text, the internet and magazines dealing with web design and applying what they have read to their hands-on projects.
    • SCCC/ATS Outcome # 5 will be assessed by students researching and evaluating various web sites and articles and then discussing their findings.
    • SCCC/ATS Outcome # 6 will be assessed by students appropriately utilizing web design technology.
    • SCCC/ATS Outcome #9 will be assessed by evaluating student projects, their time logs, and self evaluations.
    • General Course Outcomes 1-4 will be assessed through the daily evaluation of student work.
    • General Course Outcomes 1-4 will be assessed by reviewing the student web design projects and the various techniques they incorporated into the project
